Good News Spreads Fast!
Laversab were contacted by a leading MRO based in Hampshire, UK who specifically deal with servicing and repair of Bell helicopters along with some Airbus and Robinson products as well. They indicated they were looking to replace their antiquated air data test equipment which was finally on its way to the test equipment breakers yard.
At the time they had also been looking at other competitors’ products and had seen both ours and our competitors’ products being used in action at various facilities. Laversab’s European Business Development Manager provided the requested quotation and subsequently arrived with the customer at a pre-agreed meeting to conduct a full-on site demonstration with one of our 6300 ADTS.
The customer was looking for a non-RVSM test solution and although the 6300 is an RVSM compliant unit, because of the nature of the new generation Laversab products they are effectively the same fit, form and function but with different specifications. The perfect unit to meet the required specification was Laversab’s 6200 non-RVSM air data tester.
The customer decided to procure Laversab’s 6200 as their preferred solution, however they had an urgent need to be able to provide cover during the lead time for the supply of the new tester. Laversab prides itself on its customer support globally and willingly provided a loan unit to the customer to ensure they could keep their service operational during that wait time.
After a few weeks the new tester arrived with the customer, who now highly experienced on using the Laversab GUI on both the included controller and optional iPad app switched over seamlessly to using their new 6200 ADTS.
It’s always nice to receive positive customer feedback and it was nice to receive this message from the MRO’s Maintenance Manager ;- “I just want to thank you very much for your support and all the effort you have gone to for us, it is greatly appreciated. We definitely made the right choice with Laversab and yourself.”
Ironically good news spreads fast as they say, and in this case it was definitely true as another 145 operation located at the same airfield heard about the “ new kid in town” and after seeing it used operationally decided to purchase a 6250 RVSM compliant ADTS from Laversab without a demo.

Better Rig Tools: Reducing Cabling & Improving Performance
At Laversab we work closely with OEM customers to incorporate their technologies with our ATEX/IECEx Zone 1 and Zone 2 certified Workstations and Driller’s Consoles. This allows legacy hardware to be integrated with powerful processors and current long-range wireless. Records from existing sensors, encoders, and data collection can also be “up-converted” to the latest WITSML protocol.
We recently had a long-time customer request assistance in reducing the cabling and footprint of their onsite DAQ systems. This included combining the MWD surface system with a standalone depth tracker. In addition to separate inputs, cabling, and power requirements, they needed to ensure reliable operation at high temperatures. We assisted with redesigning a few components to meet safety constraints, and ultimately provided a high-performance 15” Zone 2 Rig-Floor computer that included both Depth Tracking and improved MWD performance. Key features included (previously unavailable) WITSML 1.4.1 output and the ability to run multiple software packages on a single HMI with no lag or decreased performance, all while communicating 24/7 with remote RTOCs (Real-time operating centers). Physical savings are 50+ lbs. of equipment and cabling, and financial savings were realized immediately.

ARTS 7000 expansion and next steps.
The ARTS 7000 (Avionics Radio Test System) has now been successfully released to the market and deliveries are being made to customers across the world. We have received excellent feedback on the product, specifically its capabilities and simplicity of use. It is a bold claim, but we are confident that if you know avionics Radio Frequency testing, you can learn how to use the ARTS 7000 in less than 15 minutes!
The key points in the design of ARTS are ease of use, technical capability, value for money, and expandability. That expandability is a key feature as we move forward. The ARTS 7000 is intended to be an evolving product with different capabilities to be added to meet our customers’ needs. The initial release included standard communication, navigation, ACAS, ELT, and ATC technologies. Now the question is – What’s next?
The ARTS 7000 has hardware expansion slots available, seen here on the right-hand side of the top panel. We have the capabilities to use these slots to incorporate any suitable aircraft testing requirements. ARTS 7000 Arrives in Europe!
After a long wait, it’s finally here! Trying to launch a new product during a global pandemic is no easy task, and unfortunately, Laversab is not immune to the problems of such. The global lockdown has affected everything from delaying final verification testing to finally releasing the first test systems.
However, Laversab’s new ARTS 7000 Advanced Radio Test Systems are now being delivered to our launch customers, and it was worth the wait. After nearly five years in development, the ARTS system is finally set to take its place as the aviation industry’s premier solution to the undertaking of all aircraft Radio and Avionics test requirements in a single unit.
In what has to be one of the hottest weeks seen in Europe in nearly a decade, most of the European Sales and Support team for Laversab descended upon Budel in the Netherlands to meet the first box to arrive in Europe.
Laversab is both pleased and proud to be able to welcome Kempen Aircraft Maintenance B.V. as the European Launch Customer for ARTS 7000. The team at Kempen had been extremely hospitable in agreeing to allow the Laversab European team to spend a couple of days working with them.
Kempen has been instrumental in helping Laversab to complete some additional verification testing on a significant number of aircraft and several different types of avionic installations.
The verification testing has proven to be an invaluable resource to Laversab. It has helped to further confirm that the system works across several Avionics platforms whilst also enabling the team to assess some required tweaks to the system software to improve upon the user experience.
The Team at Kempen also took delivery earlier this year of one of Laversab’s 6250 Air Data Testers, and whilst patiently waiting for the ARTS 7000 units to arrive, have become extremely competent users of the ADTS. Part of the attraction of ARTS will be the ability to be able to control both test sets from one Ipad controller whilst sat in the cockpit. This fact helping to reduce the Manhours required on the task.
Having completed a significant number of tests across several platforms the team took the opportunity to undertake system training for all of the European Sales Team ready to be able to demonstrate ARTS 7000 to customers across Europe as part of the product launch.

Real-Time Monitoring has become an indispensable tool to improve safety and oversight
The term “Real-time Monitoring” has become universal in business and commerce across all industries. Real-Time Operations Centers – or RTOC – are not only impressive, but they have become indispensable tools for companies to monitor the progress of their daily activities. Of course, Oil and Gas exploration and development are no exception. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected nearly all industrial sectors causing an increase in demand for digitized information to conduct operations remotely wherever possible. In this regard, Laversab is participating in several projects in the Gulf of Mexico that require digitizing and formatting critical well data, managing data sets from multiple wells, providing 24/7 access, and often operating with no personnel onsite. This critical well data enables both Service providers and O&G clients to monitor real-time operations and make rapid decisions. There is strict Quality Control (QA/QC) at each step to assess the opportunity and develop appropriate areas while maximizing productivity. Some may still question: Do we really need these Monitoring Operation Centers? The answer is resoundingly ‘Yes’, and seemingly more so every day.
Previously, the cost to build and maintain these RTOC facilities could be quite expensive and only available to large operators. But even then, the added benefits to operations proved valuable and worthwhile. With improved technology, fully functional RTOC abilities are now available to medium and small-size Service companies. As a result, far more data is shared between partners with minimal investment, which has proven to be very beneficial to both Operators and Clients. Remote access and “up-conversion” of data that used to require significant investment in dedicated servers (and terabytes of storage) can now be accessed securely through any web browser.
