Model 6580-M1: Rack Mount Automated ADTS w/ built-in pumps

Model 6580-M1: Rack Mount Automated ADTS w/ built-in pumps

The 6580-M1 Air Data Test Set is a rack-mount unit, with built-in pressure and vacuum pumps. It can be used to test and calibrate altimeters, airspeed / Mach indicators, Climb indicators, Flight Data Recorders, EPR indicators, Air Data Computers and Transducers. The high accuracy of this unit meets all RVSM requirements. Also, it needs to be calibrated only once a year. The use of “Profiles” makes it possible for the operator to run through a test using only a single key on the front panel keypad of this unit. The 6580-M1 can also be operated through a remote computer using the RS232 or IEEE-488 interfaces. The 6580-M1 has a built-in output switching module (OSM) with 3 Static Ports and 3 Pitot Ports on the rear panel, which can individually be controlled (opened and closed) using external inputs.

Features

RVSM compliant:
The high accuracy of the tester and NIST-traceable calibration make the tester fully RVSM-compliant.
Calibration period:
1 year
Pressure & Vacuum system:
The unit includes dual vacuum pumps and a pressure pump for higher reliability. The pressure system includes a membrane dryer and filter to provide clean dry air for the entire system. No external pumps are required. Internal pumps have a minimum life of 5000 operating hours.
Automated operation:
Simply enter the target set-points for altitude and airspeed and the unit automatically achieves the targets, ramping at the programmed rates. Control at the set-point is stable within ± 1 foot, ± 0.1 knot or ±0.001 inHg. Using an external PC and either the RS232 or IEEE-488 interface, the unit’s operation can be completely automated.
Programmable limits:
User-programmable limits for altitude, airspeed, Mach and VSI provide protection to the aircraft.
“Jog” and “Hold” features:
Set-points can be “jogged” up or down in small increments. Ramping to a set-point can be put on “hold” and controlled at the current measured value.
“Ground” feature:
Brings Pitot and Static outputs to ambient “ground” pressure after completing a test.
“Profiles” feature:
A profile of set-points can be downloaded from a PC, allowing the user to step through the set-points using a single key. Each profile can have up to 50 set-points and 20 profiles can be stored in the unit.
Leak checks:
Pitot and Static leak-checks can be performed either independently or simultaneously. Three leak-timers can be programmed to perform timed leaks between 1 to 20 minutes. The display of “instant” leak rates provides immediate feedback to the user.
Local display and keypad:
The local display and keypad are the operator interface for the tester. All valid parameters, including altitude, climb and airspeed, are clearly displayed simultaneously on a single screen on the local display.
Output Switching Module (OSM):
The unit contains an OSM to control six output ports (3-Pitot and 3-Static), and vent solenoid-valves for auto-venting. Outputs and vents can be controlled by external digital inputs applied through a back-panel connector.

Applications

Since the pumps are included, this is the Ideal tester for rack-mount ATE systems.
Ideal tester for use in an instrument-shop for testing and calibrating ADC’s, altimeters, airspeed indicators, VSI’s, cabin pressure controllers, and other air-data instruments/ transducers.
The OSM allows 6 output ports to be individually selected.
