Rig Data Acquisition Systems

A rig data acquisition system (DAS) is essential for monitoring and optimizing drilling operations. Here are the key components:

Sensors:

  • These are the primary data collection devices. They measure various parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow rate, torque, and vibration. Advanced sensors provide accurate and real-time data, which is crucial for effective monitoring

Data Acquisition Unit (DAU):

  • This unit collects data from the sensors. It is designed to withstand harsh rig environments and ensures continuous data flow. The DAU processes and converts the raw sensor data into a format that can be analyzed.

Data Storage:

  • Collected data is stored in a secure and accessible manner. This can be on-site storage devices or cloud-based systems, allowing for real-time access and historical data analysis.

User Interface:

  • This includes software and hardware interfaces that allow operators to visualize and interact with the data. Touchscreen displays, control panels, and computer systems are commonly used to provide a user-friendly experience.

Communication Systems:

  • These systems transmit data from the rig to remote monitoring centers. They use various communication technologies, including satellite, cellular, and internet connections, to ensure reliable data transmission.

Remote Monitoring and Control:

  • Data can be accessed and analyzed remotely by experts who provide guidance and make decisions to optimize drilling operations. This component is crucial for real-time decision-making and troubleshooting.

Alarms and Notifications:

  • The system includes alarms and notifications to alert operators of any anomalies or critical conditions. This helps in taking immediate corrective actions to prevent accidents and equipment failures.

Laversab can offer all of the elements above in a complete package called the Laversab EDR. Or they can be offered as individual components depending on the application need. We use highly reliable technology to ensure that data acquired on the rig is always available to clients when and where they need it.
